On My Mind

I sat here tonight thinking of what to blog...I'm still working on getting my Craft post together but right now I've just got a LOT on my mind.

I want to live my life as an example of being Christ like. I just do my best to be me, not just me, but the me that God wants me to be!

Everyday I struggle to keep my head held high and to make sure I'm am always smiling. Because I WANT to smile. I do not like feeling angry so if I can I refuse to let anger in my life. It's a tough road but with God it is possible.

Lately though I've reflected on my life, wondering if I'm doing the right things, if I'm living my life right. I want Christ to be visible so that others can see God's path is a great path to be on.

But for some reason we've got stumbling blocks that get put in our life, an annoying co-worker, family that enjoy causing trouble, and friends that no matter how much they fight it they remain jealous of you, no matter what the cause of this jealousy. There are quite a few things that come in our lives as stumbling blocks but instead of getting upset about it we should just keep walking on, smile and live. Be GRACIOUS.

Today was the 100 anniversary of Titanic sinking. Getting on that ship how many of those people thought "well I'm gonna die here I might as well just do nothing about it" Some bravely died, but some also fought to live! It's things like Titanic that make you think of how short life can be. We should be the brave ones, the gracious ones, be COURAGEOUS, be examples of Christ.

Sometimes I forget how precious life can be but then I realize the beautiful and amazing things I've been given in life and that gives me reason to fight and keep those beautiful things standing strong.

These are just some of the scattered thoughts God laid on my heart. Heres a song that I just love to go right on with it

Love you all! Keep your heads up, think good thoughts and MAKE YOUR OWN SUNSHINE!

Crafts

Over the last year I've become quite the crafty little booger. Since I have been slacking on this blog yet again I decided to start updating it and turn this into a Craft blog. Since God does still do miracles I'm leaving my theme up.

The jobs going well and life is good. Many things are happening for me right now and I can't wait to share my life with you through the crafts that I post! :)

God works in His time!

As most of you know for a little over a year I have been looking for a job after graduating college. Churches wouldnt hire me because of my gender and/or marital status. I was feeling very down about everything then a few months ago my mom and I got involved with the local diabetes coalition. Through this coalition I became close to a lot of the leaders and doors started opening.

I can officially say that I have a wonderful job working with my local diabetes, cancer, and recovery coalitions. This job uses my promotional skills as well as my youth ministry skills and the experience I have from living with my dad who had cancer and diabetes, my mother who is diabetic, and from knowing so many people who have struggled with addictions. I'm thankful for this opportunity and this is my 2nd week on the job. I love it.

So everyone, God truly does answer prayer, but in His time not ours. He is good and faithful and I'm thankful for His amazing will. :)

Sept. 11

10 years ago today... was live changing, not only for those that lost many people, or those that saved lives or were injured. It was also was life changing for the entire USA.

I've heard many times today that we should celebrate and while we've made a comeback from that attack it's still quite a somber day. So many people have horrible memories. It's really still something to mourn about.

Each year I hear and see people recall exactly where they were when they heard about the towers being hit. I remember, not only where I was, but where I was supposed to be.

Sept. 11, 2001 was a tuesday, and I was 15 years old. Therefore I was a sophomore in high school. I should have been at school, in my history class when news about the attacks reached the ears and eyes of people in my school. Instead however I was at home.

In Sept. 2001 my father was dying of cancer. On the morning of the 11th my mother was angry, she was angry about the fact that we all knew dad didnt have much longer with us. So that morning she woke me up and started yelling at me. School was a safe haven to me at this point, it was an escape from my imprisoned life at home, so I enjoyed it. I loved weekdays and dreaded weekends. But my mother decided that I was to stay home on the 11th of Sept. 2001. She had yelled at my dad and me and my dad and I took comfort in each other as I spent the day cleaning my room and helping mom around the house. Suddenly my grandfather called mom and told her to turn on the tv. I was standing by my dad, giving him a drink, and about to empty his pee bottles, when my mom turned on the tv and we saw what was on the news.

The entire day we couldnt change the channel, we were glued to the tv. Mom had calmed down and our family seemed to be closer throughout the day. At 9 pm that night my father said goodnight to us, the last thing he watched on tv was the terrorist attacks, the next morning I awoke, eager to join my friends at school, but my mother was frantic, she begged me to come in and wake dad up, he wouldnt wake up for her. I ran to dad's side...that morning, sept 12th of 2001 I found my father in a coma. We called an ambulance and got dad to the hospital. He was having leg spasms. The doctors, nurses and my mom couldnt get his leg to stop moving. Finally, I came to my dad and talked to him, I told him the leg movement was scaring me and I put his leg back down. The leg spasms stopped.

The rest of that day, they moved him to a hospice room...then the tv was turned on. Once again my family was glued to the tv watching for more news about the attacks. I sat by my dad, talking to him, singing to him, and even playing thumb war with him, letting him win. My small teenage mind couldnt imagine not letting him win, it would make the situation seem too real. The next day mom and I went back home to pack more clothes...then mom went to talk to people at the funeral home...

That night, Sept 13th 2001 my father passed away after a 7 month battle with cancer. The following months are a blur to me now, and even 10 years later those memories that I just told you about are the clearest of all. Sept. 11th 2001 has a different meaning to me than it does to others. My heart still breaks but I'm thankful my father is a better place...even though I do miss him so much.

Praying for those people to day that were directly effected by 9/11.

God bless.

New Year

So it's 2011 and I'm a blog slacker. Heres my update.

In January I found a new church, a church that has welcomed and accepted both me (a female youth minister) and my mom. Life has since then still been at a stand still but I'm once again feeling the presence of God. I know that He has this situation in my life and everything will work out.

I have reconnected with an amazing friend from High School and she's been an inspiration to me.

And I've met some wonderful people through twitter and other networking sites. I've connected with many Ugly Betty fan that, like myself, understand the depth of that show and how important it is.

Life is good and God still does miracles ;)
Talk soon my lovely peeps

Still waiting

Whats up all?

So I'm still at a stand still in life, looking and waiting for a job. I'm chilling right now though. I had knee surgery so I'm recovering from that. I'm helping around the house and jsut trying to get rid of plenty of things. I'm excited to see all of the progress I make in the house over the next few weeks/months.

Lifes just kinda the same now. Church is going good. I was going to move to Circleville and that didnt work out. I'm still hard at work on both LLLTD and ACCAA. Things are moving but slowly. I'll be excited once I feel like my life is finally starting.

God is good, as always and I'm excited to see what He is doing in my life.
