Looking, Seeing, Searching, Finding

I've been working on teaching the kids the difference between the words "looking, seeing, hearing and listening" for a while now. Few see a difference and I want to make sure they see it. But I thought I'd take that lesson and blog about it, to spread it around.

According to the dictionary.
To LOOK is to direct one's gaze toward someone or something or in a specified direction.

To SEE is to perceive with the eyes; discern visually
AND to become aware of something from observation or from a written or other visual source

Looking is the simple act of directing your gaze to something specific. But seeing is a deeper thing. To SEE something you must put your focus on it, observe it.

When we ask "Do you see?" We are not asking "Are you looking?" The meaning of the first question holds a deeper more concrete focus than the other question.

To focus on the other one, Hearing and listening.

To HEAR is to perceive with the ear the sound made by (someone or something).
AND to be told or informed of.
AND to be aware of; know of the existence of.

To LISTEN is to give one's attention to a sound.
AND to take notice of and act on what someone says; respond to advice or a request.AND to make an effort to hear something; be alert and ready to hear something.
It is ALSO used to urge someone to pay attention to what one is going to say.

So here you see that hearing is the simple act in this case while listening requires effort and recollection.

To SEE you must LOOK and to LISTEN you must HEAR. However you can look and not see and hear but not listen. It's just not advised. To look and hear but not see and listen is generic and frustrating. Learn to look and see and hear and listen. Life gets a whole lot easier when you do both at the same time (look and see being one category, hear and listen in the other)

My life has been a mess lately so I'm trying to do all of that  in my SEARCH to FIND that next thing for my life. I'm Searching thoroughly and will find it in time.

Hopefully you will be doing the same.

Until next time let us seek and find...

Happy Rejuvenation January

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Now that we have that greeting out of the way,

So Thankful November and Devotion December got away from me. We had a few different things take over. But now we are in 2018 and it's Rejuvenation January.

This month we are going to focus on a little self love and rejuvenation. To become something more, something better in the new year.

That being said... Todays post is about something a little different. Something that I think every parent should know.

Kids get pink eye. When it happens a sudden fear goes through everyone in the home. Pink eye is MAJORLY contagious. I've known people who get it so often and easy they keep it for months at a time.

It happened in our home. I'm one of "those" moms. You know them, the ones that know that kids get sick, and things happen so we go the "natural route." You know the path, herbs, oils, natural home remedies. And yes I prefer homemade products like lotion, shampoo, body wash, and all that. We use wool balls instead of the other fabric softeners. We've just found that the natural way is the better way for us.

So we jumped into action since we couldn't get our little pink eye guy to the doctor right away (holidays will do that to you) I tried a couple of home remedies. DO NOT put the following remedy IN the eye but this is what we did.

One of the remedies I found was green tea on a cotton ball, another was turmeric on a cotton ball. I decided to mix them both... the result was FACINATING.

We made some green tea and I put some turmeric in it. Waited for it too cool enough to apply, dipped the cotton ball in it and placed the cotton ball on our sickly one. We did this warm compress for 45 minutes using a newly soaked cotton ball each time the other got cold. It drew the infection out an that night our guy went from light sensitive and totally in pain to almost back to normal. We did more the next day, in morning and evening. By the following day his eye and he were both 95% back to normal! Just 2 days of this and WOW the difference!

Give it a try! It was amazing!
