Searching for purpose

I have been a believer in Christ my whole life. From a young age I knew without a doubt I was called into the ministry in some way. I thought at first through music then through youth ministry. Now I don't work in the ministry at all. I'll be honest I barely go to church. I barely LIKE church or at least the people that go to church on a regular basis who call themselves Christians. Christians have become opinionated in every aspect of life and have become so focused on change that the church as a whole has changed too much and not in the right way. Watch the 3rd God's Not Dead movie if you are curious to my meaning. The church as a whole is no longer a hospital for the broken but more like a country club exclusive to the Christians that fit in their perfect box. I don't like it and I'm basically done with it.

In the last year I have lost ALL of my close friends. I know none of them anymore and I got tired of being judged and or placed on a back burner only to be spoken to if they wanted something. On occasion they'd talk to me if I needed something just to make sure I didn't lose faith in them too much. But I have.

I am hurting and it matters to no one. And that's okay because my faith in God is stronger than ever and whike people constantly fail, He never will.

The point of this though is that I don't really have a purpose anymore. I don't feel like I have a voice or a place and in searching for it I feel completely lost. So to those who know the feeling you aren't alone. We will get through this somehow.

I am reading Kind is the New Classy by Candace Cameron Bure and it's slowly helping me realize that kindness and love is a purpose I just don't know what to do with it. So if you think of me pray for me.

What I got and what I thought: Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

Girl, Wash your Face

By Rachel Hollis

It came out earlier this year and just 5 weeks ago 30 of my Facebook friends recommended it on Facebook within a 48 hour period! I counted!

My curiosity grew with each post and I looked it up. Then about 2 or 3 weeks ago a few friends got back on saying they didn't really want to recommend it anymore. They said things like "it started out great."

Well I got a hold of a copy and now I can offer my thoughts on the subject.

Girl, Wash Your Face is a book clearly meant for a female audience. "STOP BELIEVING THE LIES ABOUT WHO YOU ARE SO YOU CAN BECOME WHO YOU WERE MEANT TO BE"

Each chapter is based on a lie she's told herself and to be honest a few of them are pretty universal. She speaks to the teen in us all and the mom in many of us. She's honest about her life... And while she may not have meant it several have felt a bit of a self absorbed vibe. Myself included. To me in can be overlooked. She's trying to be helpful. I think sometimes when we try and help we sound a bit like we've got everything figured out. Sometimes it helps more of we are approached with a "in the midst of it" more than a "been there done that bought the t-shirt" approach.

That being said and without giving too much away there were a few chapters where I felt I had written them. They were that spot on. I related to them that closely that it felt like me. She hit me between the eyes a couple of times too!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone searching for someone to just get it. Because Rachel Hollis DOES get it. Need someone to understand? She does. The advice she gives is good and constructive.

The chapters are short enough you could read 2 a day and be done in 10 days. If you are a busy woman this is the right book for you.

My advice when reading it?

Keep your mind open.
Expect to learn some great lessons.
Expect to be a little bored because you may or may not get something from every chapter.

Also a warning: her closing left me a little annoyed only because it had a hint of a "just do it" mentality. Life is hard. When you are trying to reprogram parts of your mindset the just do it mentality is something that probably won't come easy. So remember life is a process and to keep working through and you will see progress.

If you want to discuss anymore about it send me a message
Let's talk!

Every. Single. Time.

It never fails!!!!

I allow myself to dream, to plan and... LIFE HAPPENS!

I'm so stressed. I want to write again. I want to focus on the parts of life that I enjoy. I have so much to do and so little time and my life just WONT CALM DOWN.

I'm so sorry. I hope to be able to focus on the things I want to focus on soon. I miss and love all my readers whether you read my blog, my book, or... all my ramblings.

The Speed of Life

Hello, Hello!

So, a lot has been happening in life and...

You know better than that! Vague sharing is something I have perfected quite... perfectly in my online sphere of life.

So, a lot really has happened and due to that "lot" I haven't been online so much. My writing went from daily to ... not at all!

Things really aren't slowing down but I thought it was time to pick up the computer again and say "Hello, Is it me you're looking for?"

We know it is, you've missed my ramblings, admit it. The thought of sitting down with a cup of tea and reading the next thing from the mind of Lynnea... you have just been waiting for more.

Okay so, I'm aware my readership isn't THAT vast buuuuut.... a girl can dream right?

Well this girl as been dream WRITING! I've missed it! I've missed YOU my random readers who end up aimless and wandering to this here page.

Okay okay, enough stalling. Heres what's up.

A LOT. :P Didn't think I'd give it away that easily did you? Really?

Okay so I have plans. I honestly don't know how well they will work out but I have two books planned and in the writing process. I can't wait to share these stories with you.

I'm ready to start my life. To begin blogging again and maybe even HOPEFULLY grow my audience.

So sit back, relax and watch the show maybe soon enough I'll be able to focus enough to give you more!

Looking, Seeing, Searching, Finding

I've been working on teaching the kids the difference between the words "looking, seeing, hearing and listening" for a while now. Few see a difference and I want to make sure they see it. But I thought I'd take that lesson and blog about it, to spread it around.

According to the dictionary.
To LOOK is to direct one's gaze toward someone or something or in a specified direction.

To SEE is to perceive with the eyes; discern visually
AND to become aware of something from observation or from a written or other visual source

Looking is the simple act of directing your gaze to something specific. But seeing is a deeper thing. To SEE something you must put your focus on it, observe it.

When we ask "Do you see?" We are not asking "Are you looking?" The meaning of the first question holds a deeper more concrete focus than the other question.

To focus on the other one, Hearing and listening.

To HEAR is to perceive with the ear the sound made by (someone or something).
AND to be told or informed of.
AND to be aware of; know of the existence of.

To LISTEN is to give one's attention to a sound.
AND to take notice of and act on what someone says; respond to advice or a request.AND to make an effort to hear something; be alert and ready to hear something.
It is ALSO used to urge someone to pay attention to what one is going to say.

So here you see that hearing is the simple act in this case while listening requires effort and recollection.

To SEE you must LOOK and to LISTEN you must HEAR. However you can look and not see and hear but not listen. It's just not advised. To look and hear but not see and listen is generic and frustrating. Learn to look and see and hear and listen. Life gets a whole lot easier when you do both at the same time (look and see being one category, hear and listen in the other)

My life has been a mess lately so I'm trying to do all of that  in my SEARCH to FIND that next thing for my life. I'm Searching thoroughly and will find it in time.

Hopefully you will be doing the same.

Until next time let us seek and find...

Happy Rejuvenation January

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Now that we have that greeting out of the way,

So Thankful November and Devotion December got away from me. We had a few different things take over. But now we are in 2018 and it's Rejuvenation January.

This month we are going to focus on a little self love and rejuvenation. To become something more, something better in the new year.

That being said... Todays post is about something a little different. Something that I think every parent should know.

Kids get pink eye. When it happens a sudden fear goes through everyone in the home. Pink eye is MAJORLY contagious. I've known people who get it so often and easy they keep it for months at a time.

It happened in our home. I'm one of "those" moms. You know them, the ones that know that kids get sick, and things happen so we go the "natural route." You know the path, herbs, oils, natural home remedies. And yes I prefer homemade products like lotion, shampoo, body wash, and all that. We use wool balls instead of the other fabric softeners. We've just found that the natural way is the better way for us.

So we jumped into action since we couldn't get our little pink eye guy to the doctor right away (holidays will do that to you) I tried a couple of home remedies. DO NOT put the following remedy IN the eye but this is what we did.

One of the remedies I found was green tea on a cotton ball, another was turmeric on a cotton ball. I decided to mix them both... the result was FACINATING.

We made some green tea and I put some turmeric in it. Waited for it too cool enough to apply, dipped the cotton ball in it and placed the cotton ball on our sickly one. We did this warm compress for 45 minutes using a newly soaked cotton ball each time the other got cold. It drew the infection out an that night our guy went from light sensitive and totally in pain to almost back to normal. We did more the next day, in morning and evening. By the following day his eye and he were both 95% back to normal! Just 2 days of this and WOW the difference!

Give it a try! It was amazing!
